I have had thoughts in my mind for so long about how I want the world to be. Often one wakes up to the cold reality that one cannot bend reality to meet one’s needs, and one must grow up, learning that we must conform to that system we see before us. Many cope with this by trying to bend the world to their will, breaking and warping, heaving and shoving. However, this is short-sighted. For what is in front of us is not only what we have drawn here to be with us, but is also the exact lesson we need to move into greater alignment.

What is it that you imagine? What kind of world would you create if you dared to believe that there really were no rules and no limits? I can tell you what I see. Ecotopia by Ernest Callenbach showed me a vision I felt very in line with. Riding a subway filled with pillows instead of chairs. People emoting surrounded by those who would merely observe and hold the space for their emotions. This inspired me for I have felt the need for a space in which one could feel and say whatever came to mind, whatever needed to be expressed. The fear of such a world and ability seems to be a cowardice that shies away from standing in true power.

Commanding a regiment, blazing a weapon through someone’s arm may take courage, skill and even a bit of artistry. But what is the definition of being a warrior? What is the use of bravery if we cannot apply it to our inner experience as well as our outer. In a modern cultural context where people struggle to find meaning in cars, houses and makeup, many find themselves working too hard to put meaning into things that sap their creativity and mind away, keeping us distracted from that which allows us to live like children. To create like children, limitless in our imagination and our ability to work hard toward that vision.

Be a warrior. Think for a while upon what your vision is. Offer yourself and others the space to be and express who they are. Ask yourself what your dream is, and be brave enough to not only ask for it to come, but to watch, with childlike fervor, the signs that it arrives in. Tiny little packages of hope and abundance. A bird, a pencil, and the light shining on both from the sun.

New Traditional Illustrations

I’m currently organizing all of my traditional pieces so they are viewable online. The process of creating these larger, more detailed images is a blast for me, and I’m glad I can now finally show them to you all. The piece I’m featuring below is one of my personal favorites. In the furthered attempts to perfect my new website, I have been adding IPTC info to my images so that it will display the title of the piece instead of the file name. There is a lot of information that can be populated in each IPTC profile, so it can be a bit time-consuming, for the moment I’m just updating the Titles so that the front end looks that much better.

I’m looking forward to working with my friend tomorrow. She is an html whiz and she will help me get my site looking even better, since HTML is not my strength.

We both take part in the mask making business, OakMyth masks. We make beautiful masquerade masks out of leather. We cut it, tool it, and paint it all by hand. You can see a link to that on the right hand side of the page.

My site is up, finally!

Well, it’s official. After a few months of frustration and tweaking I’ve got myself a legit website with a host of abilities behind it. It really feels good to have a skill backed by a nice presentation. It takes your inspiration and movement into your professional medium that much farther. Examine relying on a janky website versus a smooth one with blog and archive integration.
